First App sugaku on Google Play

Finally ! I deployed an application on google play store.

So many times I worked on different ideas but none of them was completed. This time when I had this idea of creating a simple mathematical game, I made it clear to myself that, no matter what I will not let my efforts go waste and I am definitely going to publish it on google play.

It is so easy to get distracted but It is really really hard to focus on a single thing and get it done.

Before working on it, I assumed that it will be a very simple and basic application so this will not take much time to complete thereafter, created 4 scrum board, and thought that I can complete it in 8 weekends.

Motivation level was very high for the first 3 weekends and that lead completion of home and game page UI in a very short time, however, the UI was not how I imagined. I showed it to my friends and took feedback from them. For the next two weekends, I kept on implementing the feedback and applied many twists in UI. I knew from the start that, It’s not going to be easier for me to create a good UI because I don’t have a good UI/UX sense. I did Multiple changes in UI but it never looked how I imagined and it was not even near my imagination. From then the level of distraction started raising like an exponential graph. I started focusing on new technologies and somewhere the dedication to create application was almost lost. This project might have been in the trash if I haven’t had the golden advice from my brother. He said, “it looks okay but for such a simple concept, UI looks very complex”. That was bang on what was missing, UX had so much element which was not required. I thought It is better to recreate than patching the current version. Almost after 8 weeks, I was at the same position where I started but I regained my determination to complete it and I started recreating UI keeping in mind that It should not go complex. Working for two more weekends I completed another version. The new version was not good enough but it was fine, so I moved forward with this new UI because I knew if I delay more I can never complete it. I started working in the direction to complete it without focusing more on bugs or completing it with proper UI/UX. My intention was never to make money or to make one of the best games, I was more focused toward completing it with decent UI and feature. In the next few weekends, I worked in the direction to add functionality like, adding sound, First-time Interaction, share, About, storing Stars, and then finalized the Logic of the game. From the start, I was confident that this part of programming will never be a problem for me, though I took a decent time to understand how pouch DB work, how to handle music, how to calculate stars, how to make level difficult but all of this moved smoothly with time.

It took 16–20 weekends to complete this with all the basic functionality which I had in my mind and I know it will be difficult for me to keep my focus on this application. I know the Sugaku application has the potential to be better than what It is today, but I am fully aware of this that I can not be the one who can improve it. If you are a programmer and interested in contributing to it, please inform me.
